The Public Space Cycle
The public space cycle shows the connections and the resulting magic that public space creates for a functioning city.
The primary task of a city is the social integration of the people living in it. Good social integration is demonstrated, among other things, by a high degree of participation of the population in public life.
This in turn means that people feel safe and belong in a place and experience a high quality of life when they move in public spaces.
Many people - many needs
This succeeds when the intersection of the needs of infrastructure operators (public sector or property owners) and users of public space are met.
Well-mixed user groups in a public space increase security, reduce vandalism and littering and promote social integration and identification. As a result, maintenance and repair costs are reduced. Where, for example, seniors and parents are with their children, there are no unobserved moments that lead to deliberate damage.
