For the client, it was an “all-round” solution. The design language of the architectural and urban planning concept from architect Kai Flender makes use of a circular leitmotif. This runs through the entire design of the space, from the boundaries of the new space to the seating and bike stands. As the general contractor for outdoor furniture, BURRI was responsible for the planning, coordination of tradespersons, production of individual elements as well as on-site coordination and assembly.
Numerous large planters and seating islands comprising combinations of concrete foundations, steel substructures and seat covers of steam bent wooden slats invite residents and commuters to linger and relax. The round waiting shelters with profiled glass are in perfect harmony with the overall concept.
The lighting in the waiting shelters and alongside the benches and planters is also from BURRI. The waiting shelters can be illuminated in a range of infinitely adjustable colours. The overall lighting concept in the new zone creates an appealing ambience and ensures the desired safety for users during dark and night hours.
