With the transformation of the SBB workshops in Zurich Altstetten, the 42,000 square meter area became an attractive, lively and diversely used urban space. Sustainability was and is a central topic - from the preservation of the existing building fabric to the construction and operation of the building to disposal and recycling and does not stop at the outside area. The entire outdoor lighting of the area, including intelligent control, was created according to the "Light as a Service" concept. "Light on demand, high-quality, almost 100% recyclable products, low long-term life cycle costs and energy efficiency as part of the service contract make a valuable contribution to sustainability," says SBB project manager Gabriele Bühler.
BURRI provides the entire lighting infrastructure here and also takes over operation and maintenance, similar to a leasing concept. The YARD lighting system was installed outside the “Werkstadt”. The modular design of the luminaire allows a wide variety of lighting solutions, which, thanks to low energy consumption, sustainably reduce CO2 emissions.
