The raised beds are a combination of steam-bent wood and metal. The tray is mounted on a hot-dip galvanized steel frame and is framed by two steam-bent wooden slats made of Swiss larch, which provides space for tools. In addition, seated persons can comfortably rest their forearms on it. In addition, a tap is installed in the tray, which is connected to a fresh water supply. The raised beds were designed, produced and assembled on site by BURRI. The height of the raised beds is such that they can be easily driven under with a wheelchair. Thus, even physically impaired persons have the possibility to maintain the raised beds. The built-in washbasin allows users to wash their hands, clean tools or water the plants immediately after gardening without having to leave the work site. This is inclusion in action.
BURRI was supported in the project by the landscape architects Knöpfli und Partner.
