Redesign of Stainz Main Square (AT)

Restructuring of traffic engineering, architectural renovations and BURRI furniture upgrade the main square in Stainz.

In the autumn of 2017, the main square in Stainz was architecturally redesigned as well as restructured in the light of traffic requirements. Throughout, the focus of the project was on accessibility and the revitalisation of the public space. The landscape architects 3:0 were responsible for the project development in the market town of Stainz.

They showed their ideas to BURRI and were enthusiastic about the broad and relevant competence, the quick production time, and the outstanding quality of the end result.

The furniture has been a feature of the main square since the beginning of summer 2018. The benches and armchairs have a Corten steel look, giving the supporting frames of the seating a somewhat rusty character. In combination with the brownish-greyish-violet, Stainzer gneiss paving slabs, the result is an extremely harmonious overall picture.

A shared meeting zone for both vehicles and pedestrians is now really able to come into its own. The main square offers a cosy place to stroll and chat, and is also a place for commerce and chance encounters.
