Upgrading the Breiteplatz in Winterthur

The Breiteplatz in Winterthur is presenting itself in the best light once again.

Passers-by can enjoy a range of seating opportunities in the sun or shade, and can also quench their thirst from a small fountain and view the latest city information in the light boxes.

The project was developed in cooperation with 'Team Landschaftsarchitekten'. In line with the design from the landscape architects, BURRI devised a system concept and also contributed their planning and technical know-how.

For the architects, it was particularly important that the project used exclusively local wood and that the overall process gave rise to durable, custom-made products of the very highest quality. To this end, the work was pursued alongside specialists in metal and wood.

Facing the Restaurant Breite are four LK 2000 light boxes (F200 format). The LK 2000 is the most widely used light box in Switzerland, not least thanks to its high stability and ease of maintenance. On customer request, the LK 2000 at Breiteplatz was mounted on a concrete subsurface.

A variety of METRO 60 pole-top luminaires ensure optimal lighting in the evening time.
