Transport infrastructure by BURRI – sophisticated, aesthetic, sustainable

Schönenwerd Dietikon intersection

BURRI's entire range of transport engineering products at the Schönewerd intersection in Dietlikon.

The Limmattalbahn and Schönenwerdkreuzung relieve some of the through traffic burden from the bypass roads at Dietikon and Schlieren. Now, the busiest intersection of the Limmattal has been rebuilt and mod-ernised with the aim of increasing the capacity and efficiency of the Bernstrasse.

The company VR AG, the civil engineering department of the canton of Zurich and Tribus AG were jointly responsible for the concept, traffic planning and engineering. BURRI supported the planning, coordination and construction management processes, and was responsible for construction and production.

The signal gantries, which span over 20 metres, were specifically designed for the intersection. BURRI used special anchoring on the T-masts to solve the structural challenges involved in mounting the four traffic panels. The candelabra versions were specially reinforced for signalisation.

The slim design of the BURRI products enables them to integrate unobtrusively in the overall character of Dietikon and its surroundings. Throughout, detachable connectors facilitate sustainable management of the assets and facilities.

Particularly rugged ROOTPAKK® corrosion protection was used for the ground area of the traffic masts, signal bridges and candelabras.
