Stein am Rhein

Klosterhof bench reinterpreted

After the Corona lockdown, one could literally feel the need for people to use public space and spend time together again. The example of Stein am Rhein shows this quite clearly. As soon as the new benches and loungers from the Klosterhof family been installed than they were already being used extensively. This is precisely why the public space should be made accessible to everyone and offer space for participation and social integration.

For the historical context in Stein am Rhein, BURRI has reinterpreted the classic Klosterhof bench, a homage to the art of blacksmithing. The Klosterhof bench has been expanded into a furnishing family with a couch and a double bench. The classic design convinces with its elegantly curved lines and proven bench slats made of Swiss larch wood. Due to its classic appearance, the Klosterhof family is very well suited for places with a historical background (old towns, inner city squares, sights, etc.)

The gently curved backrest is ergonomically shaped and allows for extensive hours of relaxation on the Klosterhof bench. The classic can also be ordered with slats made of NATWOOD® or with slats made of fir wood painted in the desired colour.

BURRI was supported in the project by the landscape architects Hager Partner.
