Groundbreaking ceremony for the CHF 755 million project.

Limmattalbahn 2010 - 2022

Swiss Federal President Doris Leuthard ceremonially inaugurated the construction of the Limmattalbahn on Monday 28 August in Schlieren.

The first phase of the Limmattalbahn is scheduled to be completed in time for the change of timetable in December 2019. The No. 2 tram will no longer end at Farbhof in Zürich Altstetten but will be extended to the city center of Schlieren. The second stage will see the construction of the connection between Farbhof to Altstetten railway station, followed by the longer routes from Schlieren via Dietikon (ZH) and Spreitenbach (AG) to Killwangen (AG).

BURRI public elements AG will be implementing the entire stop and station infrastructure for the 27 stops in cooperation with 10:8 Architekten GmbH/SIA. A standard type has been developed for the stopping points, and barring a few exceptions, this will be used throughout the entire route.
