New Lighting for the Munot Battlement in Schaffhausen

Outstanding lighting design and highly complex lowering technology in a historical context

With its lighting concept for the Munot battlement, Atelier Dreher designed an aesthetically timeless lighting solution with a festive character for the Schaffhausen landmark, which presented several challenges in terms of technical implementation.

The specially developed pole-mounted luminaires had to be retractable and lowerable to two levels, adapted to the irregular medieval light shafts. The requirements for the technical solution and installation were highly complex. Each luminaire is a unique custom-made product featuring a weatherproof, purely mechanical lowering mechanism with a counterweight system.

In combination with the high-quality light engine from Selux Lighting, an elegant, dark bronze powder-coated housing with a golden reflector was created. It harmonises with the building materials of the battlement and enables energy-efficient and finely tuned lighting.
