Retrofit in the context of heritage conservation

An architectural gem from the 1990s: the Lorzensaal in Cham has been meticulously designed down to the smallest detail. Even the exterior lighting follows this design philosophy: slender tripod candelabras, structurally sophisticated, precisely crafted and firmly anchored in the overall architectural concept.

When the lighting design firm MICHAELJOSEFHEUSI GmbH was tasked with redesigning the exterior lighting of the Lorzensaal, it quickly became clear to Michael J. Heusi—and to the building owners—that such luminaires should not be replaced. They should be preserved and brought into the present with sensitivity and technical precision.

As part of its retrofit in line with historic preservation guidelines, we were able to support the lighting designers in the implementation. The goal: to preserve the characteristic luminaire in its form and effect while bringing it up to date with efficient, glare-free lighting technology from Selux Lighting.
