Greencity

The BURRI range of outdoor furniture encompasses the diversity of urban life for a sustainable culture of living and working. In the Greencity project, the contribution from BURRI has been equally diverse. In addition to the Landi 39, Curved and Round benches, the public spaces were equipped with the newly developed Round bench tables as well as the Public series of bins and bollards.

In Zurich, the grounds of the former Sihl paper mill production halls will soon be home to the bustling urban district of Greencity. The foundation stone was laid in September 2015 and residents were moving into the first of a total of 731 apartments from the summer of 2017. When construction is completed in 2024, it will also encompass a primary and secondary school building as well as additional residential complexes.

BURRI's wide range of products has also been put to full use in the Greencity project, where they serve a broad spectrum of needs in public and semi-public outdoor spaces as well as in the area of public individual and non-motorised transportation.

The foundations for the project were elaborated in large part by Losinger Marazzi AG, which also provided the basis for the study contracts and project competitions.

The district development is a long-term pilot project that aims to fulfil the environmental vision of the 2000 Watt Society. A cooperative planning process was carried out in 2009/2010 on the basis of the urban planning concept from Diener & Diener Architects and Vogt Landscape Architects with the assistance of other architectural offices.
