The crate contains three feed trays that can be controlled via a central timer and then dispenses the feed portions at the desired interval. An electronic magnet holds the trays in position and enables the food to be dispensed silently. As soon as the food falls from a tray, it slides down to the barred food dispenser. This means that the cats have to crush their food with their paws and teeth and then pick it up in pieces. The stations are connected directly to the central power supply outside the enclosure.
The wild cats at Langenberg Zoo seem to be more active than usual since using the feeding boxes. They make their rounds and check the feeders regularly. They also watch each other suspiciously. The Kuder has even started to "guard" one of the feeders. We are curious to see how the behavior of the wild cats at Langenberg Zoo will develop and are pleased that the boxes are well received by the cats.
The feeding box is made of high-quality stainless steel and has very good hygienic, self-cleaning and antibacterial properties, resulting in a low germ load on the surface.
