The new university and the Switzerland Innovation Park Biel offer a comprehensive ecosystem for innovation and technology. Start-ups, established companies and research institutions will find the space and resources they need for their projects in the newly constructed buildings.
In intensive collaboration with the landscape architects Klötzli Friedli, BURRI implemented the design concept for the public space of the new quarter.
What is unique here is that the diversity of the design language could be reduced to two primary radii. This means: customisation with system components and design freedom for the planners. This allowed us to construct the planned outdoor furniture in our tried-and-tested modular system.
At the same time, as with all BURRI products and projects, the focus was on the entire life cycle: the maintenance of the outdoor furniture is also much more efficient and thus more sustainable when working with system components.
Our round benches offer residents, researchers, business people and tourists a welcome place to sit down for a short break or to talk to each other.
