The new city garden in Zug on the former armory site was an architectural challenge. An underground car park with an emergency exit and the uneven terrain required an ingenious solution. To achieve this, old construction work was overlaid by an intricate wooden pavilion that serves as a sunshade over a terrace, thus exposing and rehabilitating old concrete structures. Surrounded by green areas, the space created seamlessly integrates previous elements into the design concept and links the historical Cantonal Library with the study library in the former armory in a modern but timeless fashion. Traditional Landi benches and Impetus tables designed by Marceline Hauri with BURRI 02 chairs offer places to sit, take a break or read beside a water garden.
