The Glattal region is one of the most dynamic development areas in Switzerland, and as it grows, so does the need for recreational areas. In order to revitalize the Glatt, which until now has tended to live in the shadows, the right bank of the river was renaturalized and the left bank opened up to the public. New places to sit and enjoy were created. The multifunctional furniture of the ACTIVE family, developed by Winfried Schneider and manufactured by BURRI, creates versatile spaces for encounters and movement.
Companies and residential areas are settling along the Glatt, leading to an increasing need for recreational areas. The canton of Zurich therefore decided to enhance the river landscape, which had previously received little attention.
The ACTIVE furniture family designed by Winfried Schneider offers far more than just classic seating. It combines relaxation with the opportunity to do fitness exercises in the great outdoors. A “window” for pull-ups, step-ups or a platform for sit-ups - the furniture opens up a wide range of possible uses. Made from durable Accoya® wood, the robust furniture blends harmoniously into the landscape.
As an experienced production partner, BURRI played a key role in the manufacture of the ACTIVE furniture. Thanks to the close collaboration with the designer and the careful implementation, it was possible to create innovative and multifunctional furniture that sustainably enriches the new recreational space along the Glatt.
