Winterthur's streets soon shine in a new light

METRO LED luminaires for Winterthur

BURRI public elements has won a public tender from the city of Winterthur for the provision of further METRO streetlights.

Over the coming years, a series of METRO 40, METRO 60 and METRO 100 pole-top, crossbeam and catenary suspended luminaires will be manufactured and installed on main roads as well as in residential districts.  The METRO streetlights will lend the city of Winterthur an entirely new light. Moreover, thanks to their elegant design, they are able to blend discreetly into the modern cityscape.

Depending on the street, PIR sensors (motion detectors) are also being utilised in the luminaires. Here, city officials can program the sensors according to requirements. The lights have a basic level of brightness and become brighter when movement is detected. In addition to the very efficient LED lighting, this approach helps to save energy.

In its choice of materials, BURRI has opted for a combination that takes the intensive use into account and also encompasses the demands of design, safety and low life-cycle costs.
